The People Behind Armstrong Siddeley

Armstrong Siddeley was formed by the talent and drive of several people. The first was William George Armstrong who in 1847 founded W. G. Armstrong & Co. The second was Joseph Whitworth who founded a precision engineering company in Manchester. These two companies merged to form Armstrong Whitworth the parent company of Armstrong Siddeley.

 

The third was John Davenport Siddeley who started manufacturing motor cars in 1904 and became the driving force behind Armstrong Siddeley Motors and Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft.
