A.V. Roe and Company was established on the 1st of January 1910, the company became known as Avro from the initials of one of the founders -Alliott Verdon Roe- the other founder was his brother, Humphrey Verdon Roe.

 

In 1920 Crossley Motors acquired a majority holding in the company, subsequently selling it to Armstrong Siddeley in 1928. To be concluded.
