For many of us who have cars with a fold down grid attached to the rear for carrying a trunk, picnic hamper, or some other item, an old fashioned wicker basket fits the bill. One displaying the Harrods or Fortnum and Mason name greatly adds to the feel good factor.

But none of this nonsense for Mr Billy Donegan of Limerick Eire. You will, we feel sure, remember this skilled restorer whom we featured back in April of this year. The pretty little 12hp Armstrong Siddeley coupe he owns now features what he describes as a picnic box. The styling so suits the car and reminds us of Steam ships, and period travelling trunks, right down to the owner’s initials on the lid.

If we ‘ever go again across the sea to Ireland’ we know we would be made welcome, Mr. Donegan has told us so. I for one would love to share in a picnic from such and elegantly crafted container.
