Note- The ‘snaps’ used to illustrate this entry were taken in 1969. Our apologies for the poor quality.

In the last Jottings entry we asked for enlightenment concerning the Armstrong Siddeley Estate car shown in the Reigate Garage advert. So far there has been no response. However further research by ourselves has brought to light that a very similar vehicle, perhaps the same, was photographed in 1969 when owned by a Mr. ‘T’ who resided in Westminster London.

This vehicle is reputed to have appeared on an auction listing in around 1983 and next recorded as having been left in a rather sorry state in a field by its last owner. Spasmodic reports have been filed with the Club concerning this vehicle over the years but sadly it has proved to be beyond saving by even the most enthusiastic restorer.

This still does not answer the question as to how the Reigate garage were offering the car as new and unregistered.  One explanation may be that this was an A.S. Experimental department car, as were other estates we have considered, and was sold off through the Reigate Garage. As we discovered last time they were not as far as we can establish A.S. appointed dealers, so there are still questions to answer.
